She is kind of a nobody, which is a plot point for the novel, and as she and Calvin get to know each other, she gets to know herself. The story is told from Holland’s perspective. Definitely book boyfriend material, especially when he uses the Irish endearments with Holland. His personality was very believably goofy and definitely adorable. He laughed at himself, he laughed at her jokes. I especially loved how Calvin, the hero, laughed a lot. The heroine is funny and the banter is decent. It’s a cute little slow burn with a decent amount of heat. Problem is, he’s an undocumented immigrant, living in the US on an expired student visa. When the star violinist quits unexpectedly, Holland suggests they audition the subway busking classical guitarist she’s had a crush on for the last six months. Holland lives in NYC and works at the theater where her uncle’s critically acclaimed musical is currently running. I read and finished Roomies by Christina Lauren on u/Caitl1n’s recent suggestion.
